So, we need to get something checked out and thus I created this.
One of the reason I choose Arthemia Premium as a theme for this site is because of the headline and featured sections.

What did I just watch?

Do you ever get the feeling of WTF did I just watch after having watched a show? I did with this show. The movie is the OP and I imagine most of you are going ?_? just from the opening alone. Imagine how the show is, it is very very hard to describe.

The show in meaning is Maria + Holic, a show about well, let´s try to give some pointers out.

It´s by Shaft. The main heroine, Kanako is a lesbian that transfers to a all girls school to find her “destined one”. The “villain” is a crossdressing boy Mariya who ends up being caught by Kanako and thus creates some dire situations for her, or teases her with his maid Matsuriko´s skin.

To make things worse Kanako hates boys, so much that if touched by one she get hives over the area that was touched. Mariya is smart, behaves espacially well against everyone except for Kanako, being one year younger than Kanako Mariya just entered High School. As for why he is crossdressing and going to an all girls school when there is a all boys school so close by is a secret. So it is basically a ordinary school anime, but with the twist of a lifetime. Going to an catholic all girls school while being a lesbian is not something to be proud of. And having such easy delusions and getting a nosebleed about just the thought of some exposed skin is not healthy.

The episodes consists of Kanako having delusions about her classmates, upperclassmen and Mariya, even though she knows that he is a boy he is still so good looking. She gets excited very easily so in true accordance with the saying of getting excited: She bleeds a lot, and I mean a lot of nosebleeds. Having her head cracked backwards was fun the first time, but when it all comes down to every episode being a repetition of her having delusions, Mariya teasing her with a cosplay outfit or Matsuriko or verbally assaulting her and Kanako having a nosebleed the other characters are just decorations. At least that is how it feels for me.

Sure, the characters have their quirks and such. But in comparison with Kanako bleeding you never get to see them to often.

By the way, Mariya´s secret is that he has a twinsister that looks exactly like him, but she is a female and their grandmother wanted them to know the other gender. His sister is called Shizu and she dislikes boys, and with a brother lika Mariya I understand why…

Shaft has a really good taste in making animation. And this time around we aren´t treated to single colored screens with one word on it, that is all cleared up in the OP. But the show itself mostly consists of laugher and a lot of blood, comming from Kanako´s nose.

One of the great characters this show has to offer though is the dormitory caretaker. She´s small, has cat ears(that do not appear to be fake ones), likes to be called “God” and has some very strict rules that if they are not obeyed will lead to pain and discomfort.

Overall the show is pretty funny. The ending though sucks. A swimsuit episode that starts of with Kanako having a delusion about the swimwear, and how she miserably fails at attending the swim classes that she is looking forward to so much.

And then it just basically ends. No real ending, no closure on how it goes for Kanako or Mariya, not anything at all. The show just ends like that. Which is a real shame, this could have been something really really nice.

Just one image to make some sense into it all? It isn´t easy but this gives of a pretty nice feeling doesn´t it?

Dignified Maria Holic?

P.S If you want episodic reviews, by all means do check out Kurogane´s posts of this show. I found them to be really interesting.

edit – added a link if the readers would want to read more about the episodes.
