The Beginning of the Greatest Journey….

OF ALLLL TIME!.
Ignoring the meme. Please take a look at my introduction
Im Avisch. The newest recruit so far. Manga noticed me starting up my wordpress.com blog, and he invited me over here to do eroge related articles over here. Who was I to refuse?
Im never very comfortable saying my age on the internet. But seeing as everyone else has mentioned their age. I will do so.
I will turn 18 this year, and it is my last of high school. I live in Rochester, New York. A place that was once the center of the world, we had the Eerie Canal, Frederick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, George Eastman. But now…..we have nothing, which Im kind of ok with.
Ever since 2006, I’ve become involved in the anime world. Though oddly enough, I’ve become quickly…. extraordinarily critical of shows that I feel do not live up to their potential.
I’m a very big fan of shows by SHAFT. Most well known for Zetsubou Sensei and Bakemonogatari. I like their crazy style, and I like how they’re shows manage to slip in some deep themes whilst keeping an interesting story (or interesting comedy in Zetsubou Sensei’s case).
I take anime seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I admit I sound like like an elitist here. But please sympathize with the fact that I cannot stand people at my school fawning over Rosario+Vampire thinking it is the best stuff ever made.
As a future career. I hope to get a good technical skill whilst in college, and also publish a book related to my love of drawing (Im not crazy enough to try and become a manga-ka, but I would like to publish a graphic novel).
Eroge and visual novels are interesting. You get cool settings, cool characters, nice art, intriguing music, and sometimes addictive gameplay. Thats why I play them, regardless of whether I can fully understand what is going on or what.
On more real-life issues. I find myself as very anti-censorship and thus kind of annoyed at the actions being taken against eroge and such. Sure I understand that perhaps the industry needs regulation to insure that kids don’t get their hands on 18+ stuff, but there is a whole culture around sexual media and I don’t censorship is the answer.
Well now you know a good deal about serious aspects of myself. Now for un-seriousness
Im a bit of an art fanatic. In that choose the size and grade of the lead I draw with, and more recently….the paper I draw with.
-I love anime elves. I don’t know why, I can’t get enough of them.
-I like long haired bishoujo. They just really stand out to me.
-I like psychological stories, good atmosphere.
-I like moe, who doesn’t, and I pray one day I will be a anime-store clerk who will meet some un-educated man who will ask “I would like to buy a moe, touhou is good flavor right?”, that way I can die laughing.
-I wish that the objection theme music from Gyakuten Saiban would play every time I did something awesome.
-I’ve only been to two conventions in my life. One of which involved me trying to use my moderate Japanese to talk to Rie Tanaka……and thus embarass myself. I LOVE YOUR RIE, PLEASE REMEMBER ME!!!
So to: Stereo, Manga, Atrer. Thanks for allowing me to join your group/clan/ka-tet/warrior band/Internet Salvation Corporation/Empire/you get the idea.
And in case you were wondering, the image above is from an eroge that Im still playing through called “Genrin no Kishougun 2″. Im not sure why I decided on that image, but I feel it works.

Mah gawd Avisch, you’re hopping all over the place! Like bunnies on crack!
I draw with the bane of art materials, wide-ruled binder paper and 2.0mm lead. I’m too good for class!
The best way to make anything psychological is add obscure religious references, sudden mono/dialogues about the meaning of existence, and EMOING out over ethical quandaries.

Hey m3rry!
Yes I am hopping around. I guess with my last year of highschool, I’ve been induced with some sort of borderline-legal substance that makes me want to do more.
Oh you have a 2.0mm lead holder? Those things are good fun.
Psychologically in anime/manga I think has been handled best by Nobuyuki Fukumoto (creator of Kaiji and Akagi), the comparisons drawn into it may be ridiculous to some. But I love it.
“add obscure religious references, sudden mono/dialogues about the meaning of existence, and EMOING out over ethical quandaries.”
Hmm..
Now Im hoping I’ll see more shows that actually PARODY the psychological genre.
