So, we need to get something checked out and thus I created this.
One of the reason I choose Arthemia Premium as a theme for this site is because of the headline and featured sections.

Torn between drivers

So, I managed to get my hands on some more memory and a new graphics card. Which sounded like a good idea to install today when my current installation of Win7 started to get weird, my explorer.exe didn´t work properly so.

A reinstall of Win7 today. It took some time and then when I went for the graphics card to install that I downloaded the latest drivers from XFX and…

Then the problem started. The installation froze and I let it stand still, which it stood by for one hour straight without any progress.

I rebooted the computer and for some odd reason the display was to 1920×1200… so some drivers had been installed.

But since I don´t want to see the damn repair option in the drive status I tried removing the drivers. I didn´t succeed.

What can I do except start the installation from scratch again? Yay for once again installing Win7. My stupid misstakes are starting to cost me a lot of time I should be spending on studies.

So that´s the main reason for this post, I wanted to have something to write about and while Win7 is installing I can write this and then hopefully I can get back to my studies after this time.

The funny part is this is my first ATI card in a while now. I´ve been using Nvidia cards before and just for a fast comparison in installing the drivers: Either XFX screwed the drivers up or ATI have weird drivers.

But apparently in power and performance these new ATI cards are kicking Nvidia´s ass pretty hard. I don´t know since I usually don´t press my cards that hard. But now I feel that I can do that so I´m happy :)

I also feel like a idiot for getting such problems as these… just so irritating to see that it doesn´t take much more than a simple error to create faults in the system. And I keep making them :(

But oh well. Now the drivers are installed and I can start to install more demanding software. Hopefully it won´t lead to me getting my ass raped again…

All is fun and dandy when it works, but not when things don´t work. But for now everything seems to work just fine.

So be carefull when installing stuff or if you have to install new drivers, use the ones from the source :)
