[Filler] Sailor Moon opening in different languages

Boy, we hit a new low mark here with everyone but me being caught up in schoolwork or ordinary work.
With all this I think we started too early. But what can I do? It´s either declare that we are going into hiatus or I keep filling in for the others. You can post a comment about it and tell me what you think.
But on to the topic at hand. I´ve mentioned Sailor Moon in our 200th post. So if I have spent so much time with her, watching the show, movies and most of the extras, even in multiple languages…
So let´s take a look at how the intro´s sound in different languages. I do already claim that the sound quality may vary so please, do not have your headphones/speakers on to high.
Swedish
It´s quite catchy, but it is based on the original song so it´s really good. It was just a shame that the show got canceled after Super. It would have gotten a lot better after that
Overall, the singer is good and it sounds really nice. Original Openings are also great to use when they are this charming and easy to sing a long with. I never liked the Swedish actors though, it hurt my ears. Now when I think back I should have watched it to the end to get a better understanding of it all.
German
Quite a different approach to the openings than any other language. The very first song is really good in my opinion but after that it just goes downhill. I watched most of the show for the first time in german, their voices was really good and didn´t hurt my ears or anything.
So I even recorded the show every day when I could or asked my parents to tape it for me. The insert songs in the show though were all pretty good versions of their original songs.
What is the most surprising really is that they keept almost all names. So far I know the only name they changed was Usagi and that was changed into Bunny. That and the third general in the first season got a more female voice than the original.
English
When I first started comparing these openings with eachother I mainly went for sound. This one was the one I thought I would dislike the most since I did that when I was younger. But how time has flown. I can actually listen to this without having any remorse or any pain in my ears. I must be getting old.
The voices though while in show, yuck I just say. No good, not now and never. But if you´re a starved anime fan when it aired you take what you can get. All names were changed. Usagi became Serena and so on. I should also admit that I didn´t watch many eps in english. For that option I was more interested in the music that was released. LunaRock is a good cd with some really nice songs and I even think so today.
Japanese
The original and best I have to say. Sounds good, they don´t change it untill Stars(last season) and only change the opening animation. But this definately has the best singer and just sounds wonderfull. This is how it should have sounded all over the place
I actually watched the last episode(nr 200) all in Japanese without any subs the first time I saw it. What a turn it had taken and as I didn´t understand a thing what they were saying I wanted that the germans would dubb it faster so I could see it.
Actually, the first season´s Usagi is scaring my ears when I hear her cry and talk. But over the amount of time these five seasons take she actually improves, while she is still a crybaby her voice grows more mature and it shows in every way.
Overall I like this language the best. It works just great in show and in op as well as for all the musicals, CDs and such that were released.
Hope this will ease the pain of not being able to read a post by Avisch today. He will be back next week and while he didn´t write this post today, do take a look at the headline where he and I talk about a couple of shows from the Winter season of 2010.

Thanks, now this song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day… -_-
In my opinion, the English version is better. But that is due to nostalgia effects, I like the original Japanese version too, but I always switch to the English version.
Which reminds me, gotta start and watch the final season [Sailor Stars]. Too bad it wasn’t released here in the US.
No worries about that. Some songs are meant to be remembered and getting stuck in your head
I rarely listened to anything else than the German version most of the time since that was what I could get my hands on easily. When we got internet I got a bit more let´s say mixed languages.
I tend to go for the Japanese version when I can since for some reason it just fits into everything.
the final season is the best animated one. The quality is superb.
And hey, at least you got SuperS in US
Which is my favorite season for some reason.
Oh shit, I totally forgot what the German version sounded like. Hah, reminds me of when I switch to another channel until this would get over and they’d show Dragon Ball.
Which also got the German treatment and got their OP changed…
But still, good actors and such. But man what slow shows both Sailor Moon and Dragonball are.
