Back when I was watching Katanagatari, there was a small voice that said “Damn. Why can’t Yukari Tamura star in more shows with her character acting cute all the time?” So apparently this was the answer that was given to me. Yukarin voices Yamada, who is desperately into the hobby of the love battlefield. It relies on gag humor most of the time, but with the good voice cast and Yukarin I will stick with it.

manga:
A anime where it´s actually the girl who wants to jump and fuck around with guys? I´m not sure if my head can comprehend this kind of show. Being in love, finding love, getting to love someone is ok, but setting a goal to find 100 fuck buddies?

Hell no! Give me back my innocent views of the anime girls and I pray to God that there are no real life girls that are like this or think like this.

For bonus points: Good comedy and “cherries” taste good I´ve heard. If I can get over my “no way not these kind of girls in my anime” period I´ll probably enjoy this.

Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou

Avisch:
The plot sounded interesting, though as most light novel adaptations go…I wasn’t expecting much. But the first episode was not half-bad. It was like a mix of Kampfer and Asura Cryin’ (both mediocre but semi-entertaining shows), so I guess I liked it. The voice work is relatively impressive, I felt the female lead’s voice was attractive and unique (despite her character-type, I love the righteous-loyal characters).

I don´t know where you got Asura Cryin’ from Avisch nor Kämpfer but I can say that the show is a load of fun.

I love seeing a guy getting missunderstood when it ends up with ecchi in some shows. This is one of the few shows that I can enjoy without feeling guilty. Maybe I should call this the guilty pleasure of the season?

A must watch. I need to know what the weird mark/scar under his eyes are. This I need to know NOW!!

Heroman

Avisch:
I don’t like BONEs much as a studio. Everything by them that I’ve watched has fallen short. Animation wise they are fine, but story/writing wise I find them horrible (as per my opinion of Xam’d, Eureka 7, and DtB, crucify me if you want). However their first episodes have managed to rope me in a number of times, and this was no different. So the first episode was cool, but if subsequent episodes fail, I won’t be surprised. Then there’s the topic of Joey, who nearly manages to out-moe the female lead. Is s/he a boy…..or a very nice looking reverse trap. “HIIIRO MAN!!!!”

Update: After watching episode 2 This show isn’t worth talking about anymore. It’s nothing more than bad comic.

So boy is treated like shit, spoiled idiots that treat the boy as shit trashes a much expensive toy. Misstreated boy fixes the expensive toy, lightning strikes and love and behold the toy is expanded, bigger, badder and can only be controlled by a weird device that attached itself to the wimpy boys arm?

And the earth is soon to be invaded by insects wanting to harvest the natural resources?

As a bonus: Hideyoshi from Baka Test was a sure giveaway that he has no gender. This boy named Joey Jones looks and acts like a girl but is supposedly a guy? Oh lord.

Dropped, and can´t be dropped fast enough. Cute love interest sure but that alone doesn´t make the story or the telling interesting.

Angel Beats

Avisch:
After being disappointed by CANAAN (also by PA works) I did not expect much from this. The first episode wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really make much sense to me. The second episode actually managed to impress me with a good opening theme and some comedic moments. I can’t really tell if this will do well. Animation is good (it’s PA works….what did you expect), voice work is fine, and the Haruhi comparisons throughout the internet will make anyone lol.

manga:
Key visual novel is a must see. And I don´t know why, but getting killed, experiencing the pain and the resurrecting doesn´t sound that bad to me. I´d like to at least experience it sometime.

Cute girls, great soundtrack from the band playing in the first episode and lulz for getting stabbed 100 times with a spear and covering the whole floor with blood.

Yes I have a sadistic part in me. That few shows allow me to enjoy. Lately there has only been Hellsing Ultimate and that´s it.

Choice of voice acting could have been better to make it less Haruhi compared but still. A good show and I´ll follow it.

Mayoi Neko Overrun!

Avisch: This at first looks like the usual “boy and his female childhood friend get a new addition (ie. eccentric girl) to their lives”, but this oddly enough is able to break some of the cliches. Sure the Fumino (the childhood friend) is tsundere, yet I can’t help but feel her TSUN TSUN is downplayed. Usually in shows like this all the focus is drawn towards the eccentric girl (Nozomi), but here she’s just another character. What I like about the show is the rich loli Chise who infact does not consider herself above others and simply is used as a parody of the usual rich female characters.

It’s not a brilliant show. But for what it’s worth, it’s entertaining. Though Hiroyuki Yoshino (voicing Ieyasu) really shouldn’t have taken the role of the otaku.

Wow, we start of with panties, the classic shimapan. Then comes the usual grudge holding against the guy. Even though the girl herself showed him…

A girl that only lies unless she is really angry and truthful and the guy who made her that way by encouraging her when they were younger. Yes childhood friends. Flag raised.

Mix in with a kendo training guy, a 2d maniac and we got ourselves a pretty fun bunch to be around. Yes there is a loli in it as well.

The main attraction for me enters at the very last minute of the first episode, a catgirl

Need to have at least one catgirl in the shows that I watch so this is obviously on my must watch list.

The festivities continues!!

From having had a month long party since the 2nd year anniversery on the Fool we rush into another party with my own birthday today. So what do the interwebs have to give me except lots of laughter and friendship?

My day started pretty good. Took some time to sleep. As if I haven´t done that enough already but anyway. I sleept in long and that feelt good. It was what I needed with everything yesterday turning to shit.

After getting up there was breakfast combined with lunch. Then away to a soccer game.

That´s what I´ve been doing so far. I´ve been getting a lot of congratulations and happy birthdays as well, which I thank everyone for. It makes me happy.

The game went so so. My own part of it was pretty medium to good if I say so myself. Just to bad I have a habit of letting everyone else shine on the field while I myself don´t do much but work in the shadows. But I´m fine with that. It just bothers me that a simple misstake with a straight defense line can be so disastrous when not all of us want to win.

I´ve been working on a little something. A story of sorts that I wanted to publish along the lines of when I finally got the mascot. But it seems that it will still take time. I wonder how a couple of months could turn into almost a full year with no feedback or anything. But I´ll keep on waiting.

To give Akatsuki Yukari some reality and life of her own I decided to write a story about her and what she has gone trough. So I´ll try to publish a chapter every two weeks and we´ll see how things end up. For the first chapter you can go here. Do comment on it.

For presents, well I didn´t have much of a birthday party since I´m busy with soccer, my grandfather and on the other side of the family my grandmother isn´t doing so good either. My aunt is to busy with her own life and above all I´m not much of a party person. To poor for that.

Some funds have been acquired so I´m able to get some new games at least. Still have to try and find a jobb. It seems as if I need to work on my social activities and be able to stand in a store to greet people with a smile even though my day is hell. I just wish that if I do find a job it works with soccer. A night job would be perfect.

So my birthday has had it´s up and downs. But overall, a great birthday. Better than the last one anyway.

The best present I got was something I created myself. I finally took the time to start building my own server. And with FreeNAS installed and a HDD installed and shared Silvi is now operational.

Where I got the name? From Record of Agarest War and it´s fifth generation. Silvi is a harpy, which means wings and she is just so damn cute. So yes, she´s lovely.

Hardware for the server is a bit overkill.

80GB OS drive with FreeNAS.
1 500GB Samsung HDD.

Will add at least 2 more 1TB HDDs which I´m currently working on. I might get 1 1.5TB HDD as well. But that is something to think about.

It´s weird. I thought this day was much much later into April, but it´s already time for the festivities. I´m terribly sorry to say that we haven´t prepared anything special. So it will just be a rant from me manga and then we´ll continue with our ordinary lives.

So much has happend during this last year. I´ve started studying and seriously this time I have also lost my interest to study. I need to think long and hard about what I do want to start doing for the rest of my life. I´m not getting any younger.

The blog has grown though. I took it upon myself to get co-writers to this blog and I succeeded pretty well. Following the added writers we added a schedule that we have tried to keep going. Some weeks have just been to much for us and it hasn´t worked. We still write here because we think it´s fun to write, not for any other reason. So some weeks we just have no clue what to write or are tired from school or work.

But most of the time this happends I try to find a good movie or some small subject to talk about. Which have succeeded most of the time.

We also started a forum. But for good or bad this forum has just been visited by myself and my co-writers along with what is supposedly a spam user. So when I get the thumb out of my rear I´ll probably erase the forum since it isn´t being used.

We pasted 200 000 views during the year that passed. Which is pretty good since most of the views come from one post. But after I got co-writers the amount of visitors have increased which is really nice. And comments have started to increase as well, but slowly. But still, a increase.

To make a final change in the theme busniess I got this current theme: Arthemia Premium. Costed me a bit but well worth every bit of money I payed.

We also passed 200 posts pretty fast after getting more co-writers.

If there is one thing I regret then it is that we haven´t been able to produce as much headlines as I would have wanted. But we can always try to improve.

The ads have collected some money for server costs and such. Not enough but still, it´s giving us some server money. Which is nice. People are also interested in clicking on the Jlist ad, which is great since it gives traffic to Jlist. But so far noone has bought anything from the link. Which is a pity. But still. Nice to know you enjoy the Jlist ad.

During this year I also took contact with a artist to create a mascot. This said mascot is on her way on being completed as we speak and I hope that when she is ready you will enjoy seeing her. Because I can tell you that much: She´s a cutie When she is finished a page will be created for her and some other special stuff.

So here´s to another year together. Hopefully nothing will go wrong this year either

Katanagatari

Avisch: I was expecting this show to be a mediocre hit or miss. But the first episode really impressed me. The characters were presented well, Togame (voiced by the ever adorable Yukari Tamura) and Shichika (voiced by relative newcomer Yoshimasa Hosoya) make a nice couple. The show has an interesting mix of comedy, action, and seriousness. Which is to be expected because it is an adaption of a Nisio Isin work. The artstyle for the show is interesting, I can’t comprehend some of it (Togame has traditional anime eyes unlike Shichika), but it doesn’t really bother me, it’s very cool. Most complaints against the show are it having “too much talking” and being “too shonen”, so I’ll just use this opportunity to defend it. Anyone who can’t stand talking has ADD levels that surpassed mine in 7th grade, and so what if it’s “too shonen”, it’s better than almost all shonen stuff out there.

manga: The opening animation was pretty nice. Showed of a interesting story with the most powerful fighting style in a land ruled by swords is to use no sword.

Then we change views and artstyle for some odd reason and I just go ?_? what just happend? Then I remember, oh it was this show that had such unique artwork.

Watching the episode made me wonder when it would end. Since I´ve watched so many show where all they do is talk I understand the reason behind it and I didn´t dislike this. But I was amazed at how long the episode was. I thought it was going to be the usuall 20ish mins but this was much more.

All in all I have to say I´m interested in this show and I´ll continue to watch it.

Ookami Kakushi

Avisch: Hearing that there was a visual novel project that had PEACH-PIT as the art designer and Ryukishi07 as the writer, I was quite intrigued. The anime adaptation is hard to interpret, it’s not too bad, but almost nothing has happened in the five episodes I’ve watched. Other than the “THIS TOWN HAS A DARK SECRET” implications, and the ultra-genki semi-main heroine, and the cold-cool heroine, there’s nothing majot that has happened in this show. I do like the opening. I think I will try it for a few more episodes.

manga: A show that has wolves in the title? I´m interested

Given the first episode I wonder why the hassaku are so important. Is it some kind of content in the fruit that keeps them as humans while their instincts is at hold? Or do they have the festival to continue to be humans? Cause everything that I saw in the first episode screamed a wolf pack. Not that good at taking in new faces and more curious about it than anything else.

After getting accepted though it is as a family. When thinking about how everyone seems to focus on the main lead and his little sister I just hope my premonition turns out to be false.

And yaoi influences? Oh my I do not want to see that. But I guess I have to if I want to see the following episodes.

Hanamaru Youchien

Avisch: An cute-anime for the sake of cuteness. I tried the first episode, which definitely wasn’t bad. It was kind of funny, though I felt the humor was kind of forced. The funniest bit I found was the fact that Tsuchida (the male lead) is voiced by Hino Satoshi (who’s voiced many straight-man roles). I may keep watching for Yamamoto.

manga: Kinder garden girl: “He hit on me”. Talk about getting to know your sensei the wrong way. And what a thing to missunderstand as well. But it was also funny to see that both the mother and child act and behave the same way. But I don´t have a specific age on the little kid but talking about marriage at that age is a bit to much. At least wait untill you´re in High School for that kind of talk.

Was it just me or is the main lead voiced by the same guy who did Keitaro Urashima from Love Hina? Makes you wonder why he ends up in these kind of roles, surrounded by beautiful girls and having to take care of children this time around instead of a house.

But I liked what I saw, comedy, suspense! And nice colors/design. I must keep watching this. Unless it goes boring as hell on me in the second episode. But I don´t think so and see no reason for it to happen.

Yo, another year and another single awareness day. For everyone let´s share out thoughts on this year.

Yes, still single. Don´t know why but for some odd reason I have no interest in getting together with a girl at this time. To afraid of relationships still and it won´t improve anytime soon.

Do that extend I´ll tell you that I miss having the opportunity to cuddle, hug and spend time together with a loved one, espacially on a day like this. But given my set of mind as it is now it would just be a problem for any girl that would want to spend time with me. It wouldn´t work.

I have to try sometime soon though, starting to get old. But still, I am one that thinks that you shouldn´t try and get a girlfriend just for wanting to have one. Then the most important aspect of being a couple, the emotions between you get lost and that will only bring trouble.

But enough about me. Since I play so many games and watch so much anime I thought, in respect of the day and all that I would make a writeup about the best couple as I see them from both the anime and game world.

Game Couple

You know you play to few games when one special couple still lingers in your mindset even after a long time. This couple is one of those that I just adore and feel happy for them.

Squall & Rinoa (Final Fantasy VIII)

Not a big surprise I guess. But their love moved me and started wanting to have friends and feel love again after a big setback in my life. So it moves me a lot and I still remember how I was before getting my hands on this.

To say this their love didn´t start out that great. Rinoa basically forced Squall to dance with her even though he didn´t know how. With motivations as “you´re the only good-looking guy around” and “I can´t be on the dancefloor alone” their friendship started. And to make things worse after the first dance which he barely managed she just up and leaves him.

Quick one-night stand or what? Yes I know they didn´t go that far but still. Best comparison I can think of right now :p

Squall soon afterwards gets a assignment where he is supposed to aid the Forrest Owls in liberating Timber from it´s unjust rule. Meeting up with the Forrest Owls he is tasked with waking up their commander and love and behold, there the same girl that he danced with is. Given that Squall was a lonewolf at the time he must have been shocked when she threw her arms around his neck and gave him a happy hug.

This was the beginning of their story filled with love. For a while at least. Given how Rinoa & Seifer was an item before she turned to Squall.

I´d love to see a downloadable episode with what Rinoa & Seifer did that summer.

But anyway, after that fatefull meeting Squall started to change into more of a good person with a mindset that loving and being loved is ok and not a big chance of getting hurt.

And the scene of the end at FFVIII, I just adore that. Shows how far they got.

Anime Couple

I love watching romantic shows. With that in mind my choice of couple may come as a surprise to many of you as it doesn´t come from a romantic show or even a slice of life show. But so far I still remember this couple as a sweet sweet couple that thanks to their power choose to stay away from everything for as long as they could. Their own innate powers were just that great.

Kira & Lacus

Kira didn´t have it easy. Forced to pilote a Mobil Suit so that he could save his friends and fighting against his own kind. Also being in love with a bitch that would do anything to get what she wants.

But let´s stop there. Kira was not thinking to highly of himself and that he had to kill people to save others. It was in this stage that he saw a rescue pod emitting a light and he decided to take it back with him. To his surprise the one who was inside the rescue pod was not a male, but a pink haired girl that turned out to be the idol and pink haired princess Lacus Clyne. Kira feelt something click inside of him as he watched her floath in the air(they were in space so go figure) only to reach up and grab a hold of her so that she could land safely on the ground.

Lacus had all problems solved for her, she was engaged, was an idol and just about anything about her shouted princess. She gave Kira his first compassionate words that showed that even though she was a coordinator she didn´t think that alone would make someone helpfull and nice. Being a coordinator didn´t have anything to do with it as it was the personality that mattered.

It´s kinda hard to say that Kira snatched Lacus away from Athrun who she was engaged to. But at the same time with Athrun being as he was, confused and not thinking that much about Lacus but instead of Cagalli it all turned out for the better I´d say.

Lacus didn´t even cry in front of Athrun when her father died, but when she faced Kira and was almost alone with him she started crying. Emotions are a bit weird aren´t they?

But together they have the power to make just about anything happen. Which they know of, therefore they decided that after the war they should go away and just live happily together without ever getting into fights again.

Happy Valentines/Single Awareness day 2010!!

And with this I conclude this post. On the right day this time I hope that everyone that has a girlfriend spends it together for a romantic day. As for those without one, don´t despair, the time will come and it will be wonderfull. My myself? I´ll be busy finishing up everything I left for the deadline today. Lots of stuff to work on and finish.

Ladies versus Butlers!

Avisch: XEBEC has not been my favorite studio, I didn’t like their artstyle choice on Omamori Himari, and Pandora Hearts is a bit slow. Nevertheless I found the first episode fine, the animation is pretty good, the comedy is well……nothing more than lots of mishaps with misunderstanding. Yet I couldn’t help but smile at the antics of the entire cast (the principle in the first episode is busy playing a yaoi game, I thought that was cute). The second episode was more of the same, yet it’s difficult to know if the story will be slice-of-life or if there will be an actual plot.

manga: What is this? A Kanokon follow up? Why are drills so popular? And why are there always a set change in breast size on the girls in these shows? From melons to DFC? I wonder when and if we´ll see the trap revealed. Either Pia Carrot took a toll on me or I´m just cautious of boys that do not want other boys in their rooms…

Designwise I kinda like the show but with the storyline probably advancing as it does I don´t know. A bit laughable with the “evil” version but oh well. Good for a laugh and spending time.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

Avisch: First episode surpassed my expectations. The humor was pleasing, the animation was good, and despite having some generic relationship dynamics I really like the characters. Hiro Shimono voices the protagonist, this show gets points for that already.
The entire plot of the show is kind of hilarious parody of Yu-gi-oh style shows, whether that’s intentional or not doesn’t matter. It’s a nice looking show, and I will keep watching it.

manga: A boy looking that much like a girl? Oh my even Jun looks less than a girl than he does. If it weren´t for the ramblings of “wanting to tell Himaji I love her” that come about to often this would be a great show.

I like the concept and the art. Having your studies depend on how well you do on tests is a bit elite thinking but I understand why. And they are calling it a test. Having fights in the subjects you´re good at and the RPG elements are just to damn cute

If it were less idiotic ramblings and more RPG style avatar fighting then I would love it. Good in small doses.

Durarara!!

Avisch:I loved and still love Baccano! So I was pumped when I heard that a story by the same author was getting animated by the same studio. First episode was pretty good introduction, second episode had a rather touching contained story which leaves me wanting more. The craziness of the characters and the music keep my interest.

manga: what just happend? To many characters are getting blended into one single storyline where all characters are going to show of what they did in the first episode mixed with a normal time line moving forward for the “main guy”?

To much info for me and at this point I do not want to watch it. But I will watch it thanks to the golden animation style and mysterious bike rider
