The Fool

Last night seemed unreal to Aidan, he had in a bad and vague way told Mylene that he loved her. Her reaction had been to burst in tear, overjoyed it seemed since she really liked Aidan and had almost started to wonder what was wrong with him since he didn´t reply to her actions.

After exchanging yet another kiss at the beach they had gone to the limo and Michael had droven Mylene home, two people were standing at the doorstep and had welcomed her home, Aidan on the other hand had almost chocked when he heard her call out “Daddy” to the were same guy who the night before had talked with him when he was feeling down at the party.

He had told Mylene and her parents good night and was forced to have Michael take him home. Getting home, opening the door and taking of his clothes throwing them all over the place as he headed for his bed and he had fallen asleep at once, a rare occurrence for him since he almost always had to turn around a lot before being able to sleep.

And it was now, with the telephone ringing that he with a lack of sleep face got up and answered the phone
“Aidan speaking, how can I help you?”
“Aidan? Good grief you sound like you hadn´t gotten any sleep last night. Did your date with Mylene go that well?”
”Steve? No, we didn´t do anything like that, but we stayed out kinda late yes.”
“Oh, I didn´t think you had it in you Aidan, but good going man”
”The question that I want to have an answer to is how you know about all of this”
”Nothing much. Just heard a rumour you went out with Mylene to a fancy restaurant and then to her parents party. And I decided to give you a call to find out if it were just a rumour or not, but I guess it was true.”
“Was there anything else? I´m still kinda tired from last night and you know I´m not a morning person”
”Oh, sorry man, didn´t mean to wake ya. But keep your thoughts clean from now on. Mylene had some rough times before with her ex boyfriend so she might not open up to you at first. But be nice to her and everything should work out.”
”Well, I know she has some issues. We´ll have to talk about them some day. Not on the very first day though. Good night”
”Sleep well buddy”

Going back to bed Aidan was just irritated, how and why would Steve be interested in how things had gone with Mylene? And how did he know so much about her past? Not wanting to think about it he fell asleep once more.

A week after this Aidan had a phone call, it was Mylene
“Yo Aidan, are you doing something tonight?”
”Not really, soccer isn´t until tomorrow”
”Great, do you mind if I come over, we have a test coming up and I thought you could give me some advice on some questions”
”Sure, when do you want to come over?”
”How about 6PM?”
”Ok, I´ll be waiting for you then.”

Waiting for the appointed time Aidan took time to clear the worst of the dust and stuff that had been lying around. He took care to create a good study environment for himself and Mylene and before he knew it, the doorbell rang and he went to open it. Outside, in a dazzling blue dress that made her look even cuter Mylene was standing.
“I´m here for my class Aidan, be gentle with me.”
”If the neighbours heard you they would call the police with that kind of statement”
”I´m just kidding with you Aidan, you should know that by now”
”I do know, but I´m not at ease with it yet. Anyway, come on in”

Letting her come in Aidan can smell the shampoo from her hair, it smells like honey and her hair is just as the sun, glowing golden in the sunlight.

After a hard study session they decide to take a break, Aidan fetches some water bottles from the cooler and they sit down in his sofa, Mylene not wanting to be separated from Aidan sits down really close to Aidan, almost on his lap, since Aidan isn´t used to being close to girls he moves away a little bit. With a twist Mylene turns her face away and Aidan can see that she is hurt by his actions.
“Mylene, what´s wrong?”
“It´s not something important Aidan, it´s just me”
”No, it is important if you make that kind of face. I haven´t been around you for a long time Mylene, but I do know that when you make that kind of face something is wrong.”
”I don´t really want to talk about it Aidan. I really don´t”
”Normally I would be happy to obey Mylene, but not this time. Why is it that as soon as I move away when you want to be really close you get that hurt face? Did something happen with you when you were young or what happened?”
”Well, you know that my parents argue a lot right? And that I was left alone a lot when I was a child thanks to my parents being busy with work for the city and all. My older sisters had already moved out and I was left alone with Michael and the others. They tried their best to be there for me, but I still had a very tough time growing up with my parents usually nowhere near me, I even had to spend my birthdays all alone without any friends or parents. I guess that have made me wanting to have close contact as much as I can when I´m with someone I like. To deepen the bond between us and so that I´m sure the person won´t dissapear”
“That explains a lot for me Mylene. Thanks for sharing this with me, it must have been hard for you”

Aidan tells her as he moves close to her and holds her in his arms.
“But there is one thing I don´t understand Aidan, why are you so afraid of close contact? And you seemed obvious to the fact that I liked you on a number of occasions. Why?”
“Well, I´m not that good at talking about this, but I had quite a tough childhood myself. Like yourself my parents argued a lot and yelled and screamed at eachother, they didn´t separate because they had so much debts, instead they kept yelling at eachother for no apparent reason at all. My dad once threatened to kill our dogs just so that he could sleep since my mother never got up during the mornings and when I did get up early he yelled at me for comming up. That hurt me a lot. Somewhere I guess I picked up a fear for being together with someone from the opposite sex and being close to them. I didn´t want to become like my dad.”

Mylene, looking back and up towards Aidan´s face raises her hands over her head to gently touch Aidan´s face

“You know Aidan, I don´t think you´ll end up like your father when it all comes down. Or I should say that I know you won´t end up like him. You´re to much of a worry guy to end up yelling. You could have started yelling at a lot of places and times when I went after you. But you didn´t.”
“Maybe so Mylene, but I´m so unsure about myself and I don´t want anyone else than me going trough the same horrors I did. But if you´re willing to trust me that much I´m willing to give it a shot.”
“That´s the spirit Aidan” Mylene says as she turns around and thus sits right infront of Aidan on his lap, gently placing her arms around his neck and starts to move him closer.

This time around Aidan isn´t afraid of showing emotions and since Mylene has given it an OK he once again outdones her when he quick and fast puts his lips over hers giving her a sweet embrace and kiss at the same time…
